Amiga 1800
Developer: Amiga Format Presents...
Month of presentation: Amiga Format Presents:
A1200s, CD-ROMs, and the things you need to know (1994)
The A1800 was a concept Amiga system created by Amiga Format as
a possible means of using Amiga CD-ROM. At the time (1994) it was
suspected that Commodore would release a CD-ROM system to bridge
the gap between the A1200 and CD32. The machine was based upon a
cost-reduced A1200 with a CD-ROM drive "stuck" on the side. At the
time the book was written Commodore had just entered liquidation,
leading the authors to believe an A1800-like machine was unlikely
to be released.
The machine described on this page is the product of
speculation and the desires by various Amiga magazines on what
would make the perfect Amiga. In other words, THEY ARE PURE
FICTION. They reveal a great deal on the state of the
market at the time and the perceived needs of the Amiga
consumer
