The AmigaOne is a PPC motherboard capable of running Amiga OS4.x.
The µ-A1-C and µ-A1-I are a refinement of the
first generation AmigaOne ATX motherboards, based
upon the Teron Mini. They continue to use the same northbridge (ArticiaS) found
in the ATX models, but resolve some of the issues identified with these boards. These
motherboards use the same processor, but differ in the expansion potential. Most
notably, the motherboard size has been reduced to comply with the mini-ITX
specification (170mm x 170mm) and several new components have been integrated.
On-board peripherals include USB, IEEE 1394 (Firewire), ATA133, Gbit/100/10
Ethernet, 5.1 6-channel surround sound, SVGA, SVHS and composite video output
and the usual array of legacy connectors (games, 2x serial, parallel).
Two AmigaOne mini-ITX motherboards are currently available:
- µ-A1-C: a mini-ITX board intended for the consumer market
- µ-A1-I: a mini-ITX board intended for industrial use
The µ-A1-C is shipped with a 750Fx @800 MHz cpu module on a standard
AmigaOne MegArray connector, and a single SODIMM socket populated with 256MB.
Graphics are provided by an onboard Radeon 7000 with 32MB memory. The µ-A1-C is
shipped with a G3 CPU modules to limit power consumption and avoid cooling problems.
Upgrade CPU modules, such as the MPC7447 CPU, may be made available when low
power G4 processors are available that can be ordered by Amiga retailers at a
reasonable price for small quantities.
The µ-A1-I provides additional peripherals that are not found in
the µ-A1-C. Most notably, the expansion slot is PCI0104 compatible, allowing multiple
expansion cards to be used simultaneously. The board also incorporates 256MB of
on-board memory plus an expansion SODIMM socket, passive cpu cooling and a Compact
Flash slot, common in digital cameras.
