Dream Amiga
Developer: Amiga Format
Appeared: July 1995
As the name suggests, the 'Dream Amiga' was a fictional creation
to accompany an article on the feature list a contemporary (for the
time) Amiga should possess to compete with Windows and Mac-based
systems.
The feature list included:
Hardware
- A move to RISC processor, such as the PowerPC.
- 24-bit display as standard.
- Support for MPEG de/compression and video conferencing.
- Support for DSP (Digital Signal Processor)
- Two serial ports
- Improved trapdoor for two devices.
- CD-ROM as standard.
- PCI Support.
- Replace floppy drive with floptical
Software
- Workbench should include the following as standard:
- Macro recording
- TCP/IP
- HTML/AmigaGuide browser
The machine described on this page is the product of
speculation and the desires by various Amiga magazines on what
would make the perfect Amiga. In other words, THEY ARE PURE
FICTION. They reveal a great deal on the state of the
market at the time and the perceived needs of the Amiga
consumer
