How does PowerPC relate to POWER?
Power is a processor developed independently by IBM before the
union that created the PowerPC. They also released the POWER2, an
8-chip multi-chip module at about the same time as the 601. It is
faster than the 604, but not as fast as the 620. The name "PowerPC"
is an acronym for POwer With Enhanced Risc PC.
