Could AmigaOS ever be developed to the set-top market?

In 1995 VisCorp began preparing the AmigaOS for a highly efficient set-top box. As the Amiga was already TV and internet compatible this meant the Amiga was the prime choice. At one point, when VisCorp announced their acquisition of the Amiga they claimed that all future Amigas would be based around the set-top box market. Whilst the ED system was never released other companies have expressed an interest in developing a set-top Amiga based upon current Amiga technology. Amiga, Inc have also stated that this will be one of the market areas that the new "SuperChip"-based Amiga will be aimed at.
