What is the ELF format?
ELF is a file format that is used for all Phase 5`s PowerUP
software. It is the equivalent of Amiga hunk files in PPC binaries
or the FAT32 format on Windows32, and is based upon a Unix
standard. Many suspect Phase 5 have chosen this format to move
Amiga coders over to their own custom A/Box
system. At present the only alternative is WarpOS from Haage &
Partner, which uses the Amigas HUNK format to gain a speed increase
and providing routines not available to PowerUP programmers.
