The Preferences directory allows the manipulation of various parts of the operating system through a graphical interface. The Prefs directory can be found on the main Workbench disk.

Font

This enables you to select the font that you use on your workbench from the FONTS: drawer. These are separated into: Workbench Icon Text- The font used by icons System Default Font- The font used in windows Screen Text- The font used in by menus, requesters' etc.

IControl

This allows you to elect how your Amiga basically operates, such as the choice to use the keyboard to move and drag screens.

Input

This sets the keyboard to the language of your choice (provided you have the language stored in SYS:Devs/Keymaps and includes such features as mouse speed and acceleration. As well as keyboard speed and delay.

Overscan

Alters the borders of your screen to suit your TV or monitor.

Palette

This allows the alteration of various screen colours. Wish the blue borders on the screen were actually pink? Here is where you can change it.

Pointer

This allows you to edit your mouse pointer.

Presets directory

The Presets directory stores information of preferences saved in the various preferences.

Printer

This is the printer control program controlling such features as the source of the printout and the size, as well as the printer type.

What each function means

PrinterGFX

This is another printer control program for graphics. It is responsible for the type of printout (black and white, colour etc). The density of the ink and dithering to allow the impression of more colours than the printer is capable of. What each function means

ScreenMode

This is used to change the resolution, size, and number of colours of your Workbench screen.

Serial

This can be used to select to tailor alot of the serial port functions to your needs, such as the speed and parity.

Time

Use this to set the time and date of your Amiga, which is useful for, among other things data stamping of your files. You will have to alter your clock or use a PD program if you want it to change for Daylight summer time.

WBPattern

This allows you to put a pretty picture in the background of Workbench, screen, or Window. To display the image properly it have the same resolution, size and number of colours as Workbench.
