Can I use a Zip or EZ drive on my Amiga?

The simple answer is YES, if you have a SCSI controller such as the popular Squirrel PCMCIA adapter. This allows you to use any SCSI or SCSI 2 device, as well as SCSI hard drives or scanners, if the drivers are available. If you don't have a SCSI interface, you can also buy the IDE version of the Zip that plugs into the IDE port inside the AMIGA A1200.

You can also get a package called Zip Tools from Hisoft for use with the Zip drive, allowing you to activate functions such as password protection of disks, although this is not needed for simple access. The EZ drive can be formatted with HD Toolbox, or any other hard drive partitioning program.

WARNING. You cannot use the Parallel port version of both drives on the Amiga. The Amigas parallel port is completely different from the PCs.
